WaJosiah Trust Development

Empowering Communities. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.

Guided by compassion, integrity, and community partnership, we deliver practical support and long-term development initiatives that improve lives and create sustainable futures.

Together, we can make a difference.

Wa Josiah Development Trust is a UK-registered charity dedicated to uplifting poor and vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe. Driven by compassion and community partnership, we work to improve lives through family support, health and social care, education, environmental sustainability, and humanitarian assistance.

Our mission is to bring hope where it is needed most—supporting families facing hardship, empowering young people through education and skills development, and strengthening communities to become more resilient and self-sufficient. From grassroots outreach to long-term development projects such as the Mazengwa Mission Hospital, our work is focused on creating lasting and meaningful impact.

With the support of donors, volunteers, and partners across the UK and Zimbabwe, we continue to transform lives and build brighter futures for communities in need.

What We Do

Supporting Vulnerable Families

We strengthen vulnerable households through welfare assistance, counselling, and community-based support programs that restore dignity and stability.

Transforming Lives

We promote access to learning resources, school support, and skills development programs that open doors of opportunity for the next generation.

Health & Social Care

We provide material support, wellness education, and outreach initiatives that improve the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of women, children, and youth.

Empowering Through Education

We help communities respond to climate change and land degradation through natural resource management and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Humanitarian Support

During times of crisis, we provide emergency aid, essential supplies, and recovery support to families affected by natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

Community Development Initiatives

Water Access – Borehole Drilling

Access to clean and safe water is essential for health and dignity. We support the drilling and rehabilitation of boreholes in underserved communities, reducing long walking distances and improving sanitation, hygiene, and overall wellbeing

Renewable Energy – Solar Installations

We promote clean and reliable energy through solar installations for clinics, schools, community centres, and vulnerable households. Solar power enhances safety, enables night-time services, and supports education and healthcare delivery in off-grid areas.

Rural Infrastructure Development

Strong infrastructure is the backbone of thriving communities. Our initiatives include:

  • Construction and rehabilitation of clinics and community facilities
  • Support for road development to previously inaccessible areas
  • Improvements that enhance mobility, service delivery, and local trade
Emergency & Ambulance Support

Timely medical response can save lives. We work to provide or facilitate ambulance services and emergency transport, ensuring that patients in remote areas can access urgent care when it matters most.

Drought Relief & Food Security

During periods of drought and food shortages, we coordinate relief efforts that include food distribution, water support, and essential household supplies to protect vulnerable families and stabilize communities.

Agriculture & Livelihood Support

We encourage sustainable farming and income-generating activities by supporting smallholder farmers with training, tools, and community projects that strengthen local food systems and economic independence.

Environmental Protection

Protecting natural resources is central to long-term development. Our environmental programs promote tree planting, land restoration, responsible resource management, and community awareness on conservation and climate resilience.
